Pre-Registration Steps for Transfer Students

🔄 Transferring from Another UH System Campus

  1. Meet with a Counselor
    Discuss your transfer credits and academic goals.
  2. Submit Required Forms
    After completing your Change of Home Institution Form (for active UH System students) or Online Application (for non-active students), submit the Authorization to Access UH System Credits Form.
  3. Wait for Processing
    Transfer evaluations typically take 1–2 weeks. Processing times may be longer during peak periods (e.g., right before the semester starts).
  4. Review Your Evaluation
    You will receive an email once your credits are evaluated. Log in to STAR to view how your credits apply to your program.
  5. Request Further Review if Needed
    If you believe a course should fulfill a specific requirement, contact your counselor. Be prepared to submit the course syllabus and description for further articulation review.

🌐 Transferring from an External (Non-UH) Institution

  1. Meet with a Counselor 
    Discuss your previous coursework and how it fits into your academic goals at Hawai‘i CC.
  2. Submit Your Online Application
    Apply to Hawai‘i Community College through the online application system.
  3. Send Your Official Transcripts
    • Note: Hawai‘i CC does not accept transcripts submitted or delivered by students.

  4. Wait for Processing
    Transcript evaluations typically take 1–2 weeks, with possible delays near semester start dates.
  5. Review Your Evaluation
    Once your evaluation is complete, you'll receive an email. Log in to STAR to review how your credits apply to your program.
  6. Request Further Review if Needed
    If a course may fulfill a specific requirement, contact your counselor. You’ll need to provide the course syllabus and course description.

Hawai‘i CC accepts credits from institutions that are regionally accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies:

ACCJC – Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges

HLC – Higher Learning Commission

MSCHE – Middle States Commission on Higher Education

NECHE – New England Commission of Higher Education

NWCCU – Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities

SACSCOC – Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges

WSCUC – WASC Senior College and University Commission
