ALUMNI PROFILES: AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICS GRADUATE RIDES TO SUCCESS WITH HARD WORK, COMMITMENT TO LEARNING

Joseph Hawk was at a crossroads in his life as a young adult: working full time, raising a young daughter and trying to envision his future. Hawk said it was around that time that he discovered a passion for cars.

“One day it just hit me that I wouldn’t mind being a technician,” Hawk recalled during an interview.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GRADUATE LANDS 'DREAM' JOB WORKING FOR OBSERVATORY

Eric Dela Rosa, a graduate of the Hawai'i Community College Information Technology program, recently was hired as a system administrator for the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) in Waimea.

ALUMNI PROFILES: AT HAWAI'I CC, BRUCE TORRES FISCHER PURSUED A LIFELONG DREAM AND DISCOVERED A NEW PASSION

Bruce Torres Fischer remembers from a young age loving the Discovery Channel, the show Crocodile Hunter, being outside, looking at animals and having a general appreciation of nature.

 “It’s been a passion of mine since I was little,” Bruce said. “I want to be a biologist and want to work in conservation.”

The Natural Science program at Hawai‘i Community College has helped Bruce pursue that passion.

Hawai'i Community College Alumni & Friends will be sponsoring its 11th Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The cost is $6.00 and breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Hawai'i CC Cafeteria (1175 Manono Street); drive through service will be available at the entrance to the Manono Campus (Building 378).
