Hawai'i CC Support for Moving Classes to Distance Delivery

Note: This is a message sent by Leanne Urasaki on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:51 p.m.

Hi everyone,

As you work to move your classes to a distance format, ITSO and Media Services have scheduled training and support sessions for next week. Below the schedules are additional resources and support available. We would like to strongly recommend that you prepare to hold your classes via distance delivery through the end of the semester. Although David Lassner has identified April 13 as a possible date that classes could return to campus, we feel it would be worth your time now to prepare the remainder of the term just in case.

In all cases, it is important that you contact and inform your students ASAP to let them know how your classes will continue after March 23, and also include instructions, if needed, on how to access the course (e.g., Laulima, Zoom).

Web Conferencing workshops
Web Conferencing Options: Polycom RealPresence, Zoom (request a license - limited licenses available).
All sessions below will cover both options, and will be videoconferenced to Manono, Palamanui and Kō. For room location at Kō, please contact Alan Ku at alanku@hawaii.edu, 775-8890.

Laulima workshops and in-person support
ITSO has created a simplified Laulima template that can be used to support classes that will be moving to a 100% asynchronous online format. If you are interested in using this template, please attend one of the template workshops next week. In addition to the template workshops, three additional workshops are being scheduled on Monday and Tuesday that cover many other Laulima tools. If you plan to use Laulima to support synchronous or hybrid formats, you may find it helpful to attend these workshops. Lastly, we will have a drop in lab open all week for you to come work and get help. For all workshops - please come prepared with as much content and materials as you can so that you can work onbuilding your classes at the workshop. The more you can bring in, the more we can help you get done.

All sessions below will be held in Hilo on the UHH campus in Building 346, rooms 134 and 135. Palamanui faculty are welcomed to attend the sessions in Hilo, or request one-on-one support (see list of contacts below).
