'They're So Inspiring': University Center students highlight online bachelor's and graduate degrees

Kona resident Yi Zheng Logan works a full-time job, an additional part-time job, is enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program, while also raising her daughter.

It’s a constant juggling act and a lot of hard work, but she has plenty of motivation. 

Auto Body Repair and Painting program trains essential workers for local automotive industry

Greg Martines Dasalla struggled to find his way in civilian life when he returned home to Hawai‘i Island following his stint in the military from 2002 to 2010, which included deployment to the war in Afghanistan. 

But a decision to enroll in the Auto Body Repair and Painting (ABRP) program at Hawai‘i Community College has proven life-changing, and less than two years after graduating, he already has a flourishing small business that he runs with his wife, Billie Martines. 

Register for the Ka'ao Student Success Conference

In preparation for the Spring 2021 semester, Hawai'i Community College students are invited to join the Ka'ao Student Success Conference on Friday, January 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Fall 2020 Dean's List Announced

Hawai‘i Community College proudly releases the names of the following students who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the Fall 2020 semester.  The Dean’s List requires students to have completed 12 or more credits for a letter grade achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 (B+) for the semester.  The following 318 students have attained this distinction.  Please join us in congratulating them!

Application Tuesdays: Get support as you apply for the Spring 2021 semester

Join “Application Tuesdays” and get help completing the Hawai’i Community College online application. (Application deadline for Spring 2021 is December 29).

The workshops are offered via Zoom and will take place from 10-11 a.m. on the following dates:

Culinary Arts students help battle hunger during pandemic

With an increase in unemployment and hunger due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hawai‘i Community College Culinary Arts students in Hilo are pitching in and helping prepare meals for Hawai'i Island residents.

As part of their classwork, the college students have been cooking meals for keiki at a local charter school Tuesdays and Thursdays this fall semester. And last Friday they prepared 600 meals of luau stew, salad and rice for residents in the Puna District.
